It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a month since SunMi’s final performance as a Wonder Girls member; she announced in January that she would be taking an indefinite hiatus to pursue her education. It seems that SunMi’s mother has officially spoken up about this situation as well!

Although this incident occurred on February 7, 2010, it has just recently been revealed. For an episode of EBS Reporters, the World They Live On, a persistent reporter went directly to SunMi’s home to try and snab an interview with the young singer’s family. However, SunMi’s mother did not approve of this and declined, deciding to send a very stern, but apologetic, text to the reporter, defending SunMi’s decision. She wrote the following text,

Sunmi's Mother's Text Message

Pretty reporter, you came from so far away so I’m sorry to have to send you back through a text. I trust that you are not only a reporter who wants an interview but SunMi’s fan as well. That’s why I’m sending you this text. SunMi is now 19. Before it becomes too late, I need to send her to college. That is all. Whether as an unnie or an aunt, please support her decision. Let’s meet later in Seoul. Always stay healthy.

This text capture is quickly becoming highly searched through various online portals. Netizens are commenting, “Her mother must be suffering a lot as well,” and, “SunMi’s mother must be a very good person, sending a text message directly to a reporter like that.”
