Wonder Girls’ Nobody, victory song of Olympic gold medalist Kim Yuna

Figure skating Queen Kim Yuna, shows once again her liking for Wonder Girls but this time at a major event.

Athletes at the Olympics are given the opportunity to choose a song of their liking and if they are to win the event they are participating in, that song will be played for all the audience to listen to. Therefore, the song chosen becomes some kind of victory song of that athlete.

On the night of February 26, 2010 the Figure Staking Free Skate program took place at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. Korean figure skater, Kim Yuna, scored a whooping 150.06 for her free skate program which, combined with her score for the short skate program, made up to a record breaking 228.56 making her the Olympic Figure Skating gold medalist.

As soon as it became official that Kim Yuna was the winner her chosen victory song was played in the stadium and that song was non-other than the Korean version of Wonder Girls’ Nobody.

This came as a surprise to everyone including the announcers of the Korean broadcast of the event, the audience at the stadium, and those watching on TV or streaming online.
It is reported that those cheering for Yuna sang along and even danced to Nobody while it was being played at the stadium.

Some who were already happy for Kim Yuna’s win went into a frenetic spazz mode once they heard Nobody being played, some listened while watching Yuna being interviewed while others listened while watching the preparations for the medal ceremony. Sadly others went into commercial break and couldn’t witness this epic musical moment for Wonder Girls fans.

This is not the first time Wonder Girls’ Nobody is played during a figure skating event featuring Kim Yuna. Back in December 25, 2008, Yuna performed to Nobody at her charity event in Korea, “Kim Yuna’s Angels on Ice”.

The Korean version of Nobody was released back in September 22, 2008, while the English version was released last summer on June 26, 2009. The Wonder Girls are currently under preparations to hopefully release their debut US album on April.
